Aseval (Aseguradora Valenciana, Sociedad Anónima de Seguros y Reaseguros) was created in 1987 as an insurance and pension funds and plans management company to cover the needs of the clients of the Bancaja Group.

Aseval joined Aviva in may 2000. Thanks to a global management offer and customised advice, the company ranks among the top insurance companies in Spain and one of the main businesses in the geographical area of Valencia.

Bancaja

The Bancaja Group was born in 1878, when the economic association Real Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País de Valencia created the Caja de Ahorros de Valencia. Over 125 years of experience are behind their management.

Between 1940 and 1989, Caja de Ahorros de Valencia acquired Caja de Ahorros y Monte de Piedad de Alzira, Caja de Ahorros de Villareal, Caja de Ahorros de Alberique, Caja de Ahorros de Játiva, Caja de Ahorros de Gandía and Caja de Ahorros de Segorbe. In 1991, it merged with Caja de Ahorros y Monte de Piedad de Castellón and was rebranded to its current name. In 1994, Bancaja acquired 24.24% of Banco de Valencia, which acquired Banco de Murcia in 2002.

Bancaja has 1055 branches and 5535 and is the third-largest savings bank and the sixth financial group of Spain. As at December 31, 2006, Bancaja reached a business volume of €85,700 billon, €675.78 m profit after tax and €2908 m of net wealth.
